The Second Chamber

In the second hall of the Fatih Mansion, the story is about power, ceremony, and the Ottoman state.

Here you meet objects made for great state days. These were not everyday things. They were used in special moments, when the empire showed its strength and order.

One important piece is the golden ceremonial throne. A throne is the special seat of a ruler. This throne was a symbol of royal celebrations and accession ceremonies. An accession ceremony was the day when a new sultan officially took the throne.

There are also the sultan’s crests. A crest was a sign of rank and royal power. Near these pieces is a dagger given by Hatice Turhan Sultan to her son, Sultan Mehmed the Fourth. Hatice Turhan Sultan was an important royal mother in the Ottoman palace.

You can also learn about Sultan Abdulhamid the Second. His seal and seal pouches are kept here. A seal was used to mark important papers. It showed that an order was official.

Another rich object is the golden ceremonial armor of Sultan Mustafa the Third. Armor was made to protect the body. But ceremonial armor was also made to show honor, wealth, and power.

This hall also holds one of the most famous objects of Topkapı Palace: the Topkapı Dagger. It became a symbol of the palace itself. Like many palace treasures, it shows fine work, precious materials, and great care.

There are also royal objects for children, such as a cradle and gold amulets with precious stones. An amulet was believed to protect the person who wore it.

Many ceremonial weapons are also kept in this hall. There are swords, daggers, horse crests, maces, rifles, pistols, and gunpowder containers. These objects remind us that weapons in the palace were not only for battle. Some were made for ceremony, display, and royal honor.

Other treasures include ceremonial flasks and writing sets. There are also hangers with pearl tassels and diamond decoration.

Together, these objects show the grand world of the Ottoman court. They tell us about sultans, ceremonies, family gifts, and the strong symbols of the empire.
