Armor of Mustafa III
This armor belonged to Sultan Mustafa the Third.
It is not only for war. It is also a work of art. It shows power, beauty, and rich handwork.
The suit has many parts. There is a shirt. There are pants and gloves. There is a belt, arm guards, and a helmet.
The neck part is very rich. The chest part is rich too. Both are decorated with pearls and diamonds.
The belt buckle is made with metal and silk threads. This small part also shows careful work.
There is a knife case with gold pieces on it. These gold pieces are shaped like little flowers, called rosettes. They are decorated with diamonds, rubies, and pearls.
The helmet is made of iron. But its edges are covered with gold gilding. This means a thin layer of gold was put on the surface.
The helmet also has a sorguç. A sorguç is a tall ornament, often used on the top of an Ottoman helmet or turban.
This armor is a fine example of Indian jewelry work. It brings together strong metal, soft silk, bright gold, and precious stones.
