Golden Candlesticks

These golden candlesticks tell a story of care and respect.

They are made with about 100 kilograms of gold. They are also set with diamonds. In the 19th century, they were sent to the tomb of Prophet Muhammad. This tomb is in Medina, one of the holiest cities in Islam.

Gifts like this were sent to holy places as a sign of love and honor. They were not only precious objects. They were also acts of deep respect.

During the First World War, there was great danger. Fahrettin Pasha feared that these candlesticks might be plundered. So he sent them back to the palace for safety.

Because of that choice, they were protected. Today, they still carry the memory of a holy place, a time of war, and a careful act of protection.
