Private Room
The Has Room was one of the most special rooms in Topkapı Palace. More than one Ottoman ruler used this room.
From the 16th century, the cloak of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was kept here by the Ottoman rulers. This holy cloak is called the Mantle of Felicity, or Hırka-i Saadet.
In the 19th century, this whole section was given to the sacred relics. These were precious objects linked with Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and with the early years of Islam.
Today, the Mantle of Felicity is kept here, wrapped in bundles inside a gold-covered chest. The holy standard of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, is also kept here. This standard is called the Sancak-ı Şerif.
For the Ottoman sultans, this room was not only a palace room. It was a place of deep respect, faith, and memory.
