Revan Kiosk

On the marble terrace of Topkapı Palace, there are three kiosks. A kiosk is a small palace building, made for rest and quiet time.

One of them is the Revan Kiosk. Revan was the old Ottoman name for Yerevan. Sultan Murad the Fourth had this kiosk built in memory of the Revan expedition and victory, between 1635 and 1636.

The building is a rare and beautiful example of Ottoman architecture. Its outside is decorated with carved marble in many colors. Its inside is covered with tiles.

The kiosk also looks over a pool and a garden. It shows how the Ottoman palace joined stone, color, water, and nature in one peaceful place.
