Stone Throne

This stone throne tells a small story of palace life.

This part of Topkapı Palace took its final shape in the middle of the 19th century. This was during the rule of Sultan Abdülmecid.

The throne is beside the room of the chief physician. The chief physician was the head doctor of the palace.

It is known that Murad the Fourth watched sports shows here. Young page boys watched with him. Page boys were young servants who were trained inside the palace.

There is an inscription behind the throne. It says that the emperor was a great sportsman.

Murad the Fourth is also remembered for music. A piece of music is believed to have been composed by him.
